Processing on your Mac

Audio analysis and English transcription run locally using bundled models. The reviewed app has no account sign-in, advertising, analytics, telemetry or audio-upload feature. This describes the supplied code review, not an independent network-monitoring certification.

What is saved

Original audio stays at its imported paths. Track paths, metadata, ratings, favourites, playback history, notes, lyrics, transcripts, analysis and corrections are stored in library.json. Playlist names and rules are in smart-playlists.json, under ~/Library/Application Support/M4A DJ/.

These files are readable JSON, not encrypted by the app. Access depends on macOS permissions; other apps, administrators and backups may be able to read them.

Temporary files and exports

Processing uses private temporary folders. Normal completion and cancellation remove them; crashes or forced shutdowns can leave data behind. Cleanup is not secure erasure. Copy actions use the system clipboard. Exports can contain private text and full paths: review them before sharing.

When other services are involved

Audio or exports in iCloud, synced folders or network shares are subject to those services. Opening a Suno link launches Google Chrome and connects to Suno. Website hosting processes connection information separately from the offline app. Information you choose to send for support is also separate.

Your controls

Removing a library entry deletes its saved details but keeps the original audio. Clear Library includes hidden entries. To back up everything the app saves, quit and copy the complete M4A DJ support folder; back up audio separately. Removing the app alone does not remove the saved library. To remove app-managed data, quit, back up if desired and remove that app-specific support folder, then consider exports and other backups.
